How it works

1

Upload your resume

The file you already have. Sign in with Google and upload it — that is the whole step.

2

Set your home pincode

Six digits, for the area you actually live in. The distance is measured from here — not from the city name on your address.

3

Choose how far you will travel

Turn on "Jobs Nearby Home Only" and only employers within 5 km of you will see you. Leave it off and employers all over the region can find you.

Why travel time matters so much

A long trip takes over your day
Someone living in Virar can take almost two hours to reach an office in Lower Parel — and the same again to get home. That is four hours a day, every day. It is why people say no to good jobs, and why good hires leave after a few months.
“Mumbai” tells you nothing
A job that just says “Mumbai” does not tell you if you can reach it. Andheri to Bandra and Kalyan to Churchgate are both “jobs in Mumbai”. One is a short ride. The other takes your whole morning.
Employers want this too
They are not doing you a favour. They know that if the travel is too long, you will turn down the offer or leave in a few months. So an employer looking for people who live nearby wants the same thing you want.

What the two settings do

Both are on your profile, and you can change them whenever you want.

Home Pincode is where the distance is measured from. When an employer looks for people near their office, this is the number that gets checked. So put the pincode where you actually live now, not one from an old document.

Jobs Nearby Home Only shows you only to employers within 5 km of that pincode. Turn it on if a short trip to work is what matters most to you. Leave it off if you are ready to travel for the right job — then employers across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad can all find you.

Common questions

How do I find a job near my home in Mumbai?

Upload your resume, set your home pincode, and turn on 'Jobs Nearby Home Only'. Employers search for people by how far they live from the office. So after that you come up for the ones hiring within 5 km of your home, and not for the ones two hours away.

How close to my home are the jobs?

The 'Jobs Nearby Home Only' setting means within 5 km of the pincode you give. If you leave it off, employers across the whole Mumbai region can still find you — which is the better choice if you are ready to travel for the right job.

Why does my pincode matter more than my city?

Because 'Mumbai' does not tell anyone how far you have to travel. Someone living in Virar can take almost two hours to reach an office in Lower Parel, each way. Employers on ResumeDB search by distance from their office, so your pincode is what decides whether you come up for jobs you could actually reach every morning.

Can I change my pincode if I move?

Yes. You can change your preferences any time from the upload page. Put in the new pincode and the next employer search uses it. Your resume stays as it is.

Does this work outside Mumbai?

ResumeDB covers the Mumbai region — the city and the suburbs, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad. If you live anywhere in that area, the distance matching works for you.
